Singleton Scores Twice to Lead Soccer Past Bay Path, 3-0

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Senior forward Kara Singleton netted a pair of goals, leading the Mount Holyoke College soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Bay Path College in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon. With the victory, the Lyons move to 4-6 overall, while the Wildcats slip to 1-7 on the season.

Singleton (Parsonsfield, Maine/Sacopee Valley) got MHC on the board in the 11th minute of the contest, scoring on a cross from the corner by sophomore Rebecca Levkowicz (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Beaver Country Day School).

The Lyons added to their lead in the 43rd minute as senior forward Cassidy Robinson (Lebanon, N.H./Lebanon) connected on an inside feed from first year Megan Irgens (Bullhead City, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge).

In the second half of action, neither team was able to find the back of the net until the 82nd minute when Singleton struck again. After collecting a pass from captain Hannah Yee (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional), Singleton was able to draw the keeper out of the net, firing it in for the 3-0 advantage.

Mount Holyoke's defense, aided by a one-save performance from sophomore Zoe Marshall (Mississauga, Ont./Cawthra Park Secondary School), held the Wildcats scoreless over the remaining 18 minutes of the contest. For Bay Path, goalie Alma Rizvani posted 11 saves.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday when it travels to MIT for a NEWMAC showdown at 1pm. Bay Path is also in action on Saturday, hosting Regis at 2pm for an NECC contest.
