Golf Competes in Opening Round of Mount Holyoke College Invitational

South Hadley, Mass. - September 21, 2019 - The Mount Holyoke College golf team opened competition at the 2019 Mount Holyoke College Golf Invitational, a two-day tournament hosted at The Orchards Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.

Regarded as the largest women's collegiate golf tournament in Division III, the Lyons currently sit in 10th place overall out of 18 teams with 353 strokes.

Mount Holyoke College was led by Susan Lee (Irivine, Calif.), who notched an 83, as Cortney Qiu (Winter Springs, Fla.) was just behind her with a score of 86. Rounding out the top five for the Lyons was Elizabeth Andrian (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Stephanie Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.), who both shot matching scores of 92, while Lahela Delaney (Honolulu, Hawaii) carded a 94.

Qiu had an impressive effor on Par 5's for the day, as she went -1, while Andrian posted a score of +1 on Par 3's. Qiu also turned in two birdies on the card, while Lee posted a team-best 12 pars.

Competition will resume at The Orchards on Sunday, September 22, with a shot gun start at 9 a.m.
