Golf in Fifth After First Day of Ann S. Batchelder Invitational

Wellesley, Mass. - September 14, 2019 - The Mount Holyoke College golf team had a strong showing at the first day of the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational, hosted at Nehoiden Golf Club in Wellesley, Mass. on Saturday, as the Lyons are sitting in fifth place of seven teams heading to the final round on Sunday.

The Lyons only used 339 strokes and was led by sophomore Cortney Qiu (Winter Springs, Fla.), who was the best student-athlete on the course on Par 4's, posting a -1 mark, while also picking up three birdies on the day. Qiu, who was third overall as an individual, was followed by Susan Lee (Irvine, Calif.) and Elizabeth Andrian (Glastonbury, Conn.), who both scored 85, while Lahela Delaney (Honolulu, Hawaii) notched a 95. 

Qiu led with 11 pars throughout 18 holes and was followed by Lee who had nine of her own. Williams currently holds the top spot with 296 strokes, as the Ephs are followed by Wellesley (315), Middlebury (319) and Amherst (332), while the Lyons round out the top five.
