POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Day one action at the 2018 Vassar College Invitational concluded on Saturday afternoon with the Mount Holyoke College golf team sitting 10th overall in the competitive field with a First Round score of 378. Leading the way for the Lyons is sophomore Stephanie Spitzer, who is locked in a tie for 15th overall.
Spitzer posted an opening round score of 82. Classmates Susan Lee and Elizabeth Andrian are locked in a tie at 50th overall after day one with a score of 97. Rounding out the action was first year Lahela Delaney, who is tied for 56th overall with a mark of 102.
Overall, Liberty League-rival New York University leads the field, posting a combined 319 in the opening round. Williams College and Ithaca College are close behind, both shooting a combined 322 to rank second overall. Middlebury College is fourth with a 329, while the host Brewers round out the top five with a 332.
Individually, Ithaca's Peyton Greco leads the field, shooting a 75. NYU's Navika Kuchakulla - playing as an individual - is second with a 76, while Cortland's Danielle Bambola and NYU's Jennifer Bluetling sit third overall with a 77 First Round mark.
Sunday's Final Round start was pushed back to 9:30 due to a cold and rainy forecast. A decision to complete the tournament will be made at that time.
