Golf Takes Ninth at Williams Fall Invitational

Williams, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College golf concluded play at the Willams Fall Invitational on Saturday and took ninth place out of 16 teams. The Lyons were led by sophomore Stephanie Spitzer, who finished 13th overall out of 95 golfers.

Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) finished the tournament with a score of 80 afrer shooting a 78 on day one and an 80 on day two. Moving up six spots from yesterday was sophomore Elizabeth Andrian (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury), who rallied to shoot an 84 for an overall score of 170, good for a 41st place. Just behind Andrian was classmate Susan Lee (Irvine, Calif./University HS), who placed 43rd with an overall score of 171.

First year Caitlyn Richmond (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) was the next Lyon on the leaderboards, finishing in 62nd place with an overall score of 183. Rounding up Lyons performance was classmate Lahela Delaney (Honolulu, Hawaii/Roosevelt), who improved three spots, placing 76th after shooting a 94 for an overall score of  194.

Williams College was the top finisher, shooting a 612 as a team, followed by New York University and Amherst College in a tie for second with overall scores of 624. Rounding out the top-five was Middlebury and Ithaca College in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Mount Holyoke will be back in action next Saturday at the NYU Invitational in Bloomfield, N.J., starting at 1:00pm.
