Golf Finishes Sixth At Ann S. Bathchelder Invitational

Wellesley, Mass - The Mount Holyoke golf team concluded play in the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational Sunday, finishing in sixth place overall.

Sophomore Stephanie Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) remained at the top for the Lyons through day two with an 86 mark for a combined 168 score. Sophomore Susan Lee (Irvine, Calif./University HS) finished close behind with a combined score of 169 after rallying for an 84 score after shooting 85 on day one. Spitzer finished in a tie for 24th, while Lee finished in a tie for 26th.

Finishing 28th was first year Caitlyn Richmond (Northampton, Mass./Northampton), who shot a score of 89 after a mark of 85 in day one. Classmate Elizabeth Andrian (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) improved on day two with a score of 91 after shooting a 95 on day one, finishing in a tie for 35th. Close behind was sophomore Madi Gale (Poulsbo, Wash./Kingston) shooting a 112 in 39th place.

Individually, rounding out the Lyons performance was first year (Honolulu, Hawaii/Roosevelt), who shot a 102 after improving on a 109 score on day one.

This year's event winner was Amherst College, which posted an overall score of 619 on the weekend. Williams College finished second overall scoring a 622, followed by Middlebury (628), Wellesley (636), and Vassar (652).

Mount Holyoke will hit The Orchards golf course at home next Saturday beginning at 8:30am in the MHC Invitational.
