Golf Sits Fifth After Day One of the Jack Leaman Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. – After a a top-ten effort from senior captain Allison Shilling,  the Mount Holyoke golf teams sits fifth out of 11 teams with an amassed score of 340 after day one of the Jack Leaman Invitational. The Bobcats of New York University are the frontrunners with a combined score of 310.

Shilling (New Canaan, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) opened up the day shooting a team-best score of 80, which tied with Elizabeth Gudas of Williams College for 10th place. First year Susan Lee (Irvine, Calif./University HS) shot an 85, while classmate Stephanie Spitzer  (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) had a score of 86, for 22nd and 26th place, respectively.

After posting a score of 89, senior captain June Conti (Amenia, N.Y./Miss Porter's School) finished in a tie for 39th, followed by first year Maggie Kohl (Warrensburg, Mo./Warrensburg), who shot a 92, which placed her in a tie for 44th on the day.

Individually, the Lyons saw senior Heeamin Lee (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brookline) tie for 50th with a score of 93. First year Madi Gale (Poulsbo, Wash./Kingston) was 64th, while classmate Sophia Verducci (Park Ridge, N.J./Park Ridge) was tied for 65th with 113 and 115 scores, respectively.

Day two of the Jack Leaman Invitational kicks off tomorrow at 9:00am.
