Golf Currently 5th After Day 1 of MHC Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Opening round action at the 2015 MHC Invitational, hosted by The Orchards Golf Club, has concluded and after the first 18 holes, Williams College leads the field of 14 teams at this year's tournament. The Ephs posted a score of 307 through the First Round, leading second-place Middlebury by 12 strokes. 

The second-place Panthers notched a score of 319 in the First Round, followed closely by Amherst College with 321. Right behind the Jeffs is New York University with 323 and the host Lyons of Mount Holyoke round out the top-five with a score of 330.

Leading the overall field is Williams' Phoebe Mattana, who finished even on day one with a 72. Amherst's Kate Weiss sits second, just a stroke back at 73, while MHC's June Conti, Vassar's Aimee Dubois and Middlebury's Katherine Fortin are all tied for third with a 76.

Sitting in a tie for sixth is NYU's Jennifer Bluetling and Williams' Cordelia Chan, who both have a score of 77. Middlebury's Theodora Yoch is eighth with a 78, while Williams has Elizabeth Gudas, Tracey Kim and Isabella Wang all in a tie for ninth with a 79.

For the host Lyons, Conti leads the way with a 76, followed by junior Heeamin Lee, who is 12th with a score of 80. Junior Allison Shilling is tied for 15th with a score of 81, while classmates Amanda Lee and Vladislova Paskova are tied for 50th, each with a score of 93.

Final Round action at this year's invitational will continue on Sunday. Teams will begin teeing off at 10:03am.
