Rowing Opens 2021-22 Season at Head of the Hudson

Albany, N.Y. - September 18, 2021 - The Mount Holyoke College rowing team opened the 2021-22 campaign at the Head of the Hudson on Saturday, hosted at the Albany Rowing Center.

Racing in the Women's Collegiate 8+, the Lyons top boat finished in a time of 15:06.11 and was led by coxswain Dara Weingarten (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and included Simran Kaur (Hanover, N.H.)Emma Waldron (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Piper LaPointe (Norfolk, Mass.), Katherine Delamere (Sherman, Conn.)Anna Karns (Sullivan, Maine)Autumn Lee (Memphis, Tenn.)Mackenzie Windus (Little Genesee, N.Y.) and Arin Rinvelt (Ann Arbor, Mich.).

Mount Holyoke's next boat finished in 15:11.49 and was led by coxswain Jaya Nagarajan-Swenson (Berkeley, Calif.) and included Celeste Keep (Bolton, Mass.)Jocelyn Greer (Glen Rock, N.J.), Liv Romanowsky (Simsbury, Conn.)Claire Papendick (North Tonowanda, N.Y.)Celine Falcon-Geist (Northfield, Minn.)Lora Jushchenko (Montclair, N.J.)Dina Markovich-Koyfman (Seattle, Wash.) and Celina Krantz (Seattle, Wash.).

The last boat for the Lyons finished in 15:47.47 and was led by coxswain Miranda Hull (Baltimore, Md.) and included Katherine Dailey (Camden, Maine)Ellie Mohn (Exeter, Conn.)Jill Slatch (Gansevoort, N.Y.)Jules Kawczynski (Haddonfield, N.J.)Meghan French (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.)Lilla Carroll (Birmingham, Alabama)Abigail Files (Milton, Mass.) and Amy Wang (Beijing, China).

"We're so excited to be back out racing! When we saw the entries would be limited we decided to put out three even eights and build off our daily edict to challenge each other and support each other as we embrace competing while trying to make boats go fast," said head coach Seth Hussey. "I'd say job well done. We're come back with new insights and renewed focus to keep building toward October." 

Up next, the Lyons will take on Sacred Heart and Fairfield on Saturday, October 2 at the Beacon Point Marine in Shelton, Conn.
