Rowing Has Solid Performance Against Assumption College

WORESTER, Mass. – The Mount Holyoke College rowing team was back on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday against Assumption College and Coast Guard Academy. The Lyons had a number of solid races that was highlighted by a pair of wins in the Varsity Four race by the MHC A and B boats.

Action opened with the Varsity Eight race, where the Lyons placed third with a time of 7:27.70. Assumption College took second with a 7:22.0, while CGA crossed the line in 7:17.70 to take the victory. The Mount Holyoke boat was led by coxswain Zoe Zelkowitz, (8) Elizabeth Hazen, (7) Halee Mahoney, (6) Ariya Lawson, (5) Emma Taylor, (4) Sharlow Hitchcock, (3) Hannah LeBlanc, (2) Lanie Laronde, and (1) Mira Rosenkotz.

In the second Varsity Eight race, MHC finished second behind CGA, crossing the line in 8:31.0. The 2V boat was controlled by (C) Amelia Green, (8) Sabina Morris, (7) Molly Aslin, (6) Gabrielle Spano, (5) Irina Mara, (4) Casey Roepke, (3) Grace Remillard, (2) Paloma Cruz, and (1) Mira Rosenkotz.

Mount Holyoke paced the V4 race as the A boat had the best time of 8:24.40, and the B boat finished right behind, crossing the line in 8:27.60. Assumpion's A and B boats finished third and fourth with time of 8:32.10 and 8:54.50, respectively. Mount Holyoke's A boat was comprised of (C) Zelkowitz, (4) Hazen, (3) Hitchcock, (2) Lawson, and (1) Taylor, while the B boat was led by (C) Genesis Rocha, (4) Mahoney, (3) LeBlanc, (2) Laronde, and (1) Rosenkotz.

Mount Holyoke and Coast Guard Academy will be back on Lake Quinsigamond next Saturday for the NEWMAC Championships.
