Rowing Opened up the Spring Schedule at Amherst

HADLEY, Mass – The Mount Holyoke College rowing team was on the water for its opening race of the spring schedule against Amherst, Smith, and Fairfield on Saturday. The event was a non-team scoring contest.

Finishing first in both the first varsity and 2V race was Fairfield. In the first varsity race, the Stags were followed by Amherst. The Lyons then powered themselves to a third place finish with the Mammoths rounding out the group in fourth.

Comprising the first varsity eight boat was coxswain Zoe Zelkowitz, Elizabeth Hazen (8), Halee Mahoney (7), Hannah LeBlanc (6), Emma Taylor (5), Sharlow Hitchcock (4), Ariya Lawson (3), Lainie LaRonde (2), and Mira Rosenkotz (B).

In the second varsity eight race, placing second and third behind the Stags was Amherst and Smith, respectively. Corssing the line in fourth was MHC .

The 2V boat was controlled by coxswain Ilana Goldin, Sriya Pradhan (8), Casey Roepke (7), Kari Meko (6), Gabrielle Spano (5), Grace Remillard (4), Sabina Morris (3), Paloma Cruz (2), Kate Dutilly (B).

Mount Holyoke will have two week off before heading to Lake Quinsigamond to face WPI, Hamilton, Simmons, Bates, and Pacific Lutheran on April, 8th.
