Rowing Posts Solid Finish Against Clark, Simmons, UVM & Endicott

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Mount Holyoke College rowing team took to the water on Sunday, competing against Clark University, the University of Vermont, Simmons College and Endicott College in action on Lake Quinsigamond.

The Lyons were paced by the varsity eight boat, which finished second with a time of 7:09.0. MHC fell just short of first-placed UVM, which won with a time of 7:08.7. The crew outpaced its competitiors though, besting Simmons (7:24.8), Clark (7:33.0) and Endicott (8:14.9) in the race.

MHC's varsity eight boat was powered by coxswain Leela Woody, Ariya Lawson (8), Azulina Green (7), Sophie Rabinow (6), Elizabeth Hazen (5), Sharlow Hitchcock (4), Emma Tolerton (3), Meghan Ryan (2), Susannah Lickus (B).

In the second varsity eight race, the Lyons powered its way to third overall in a time of 7:53.9. The Catamounts took top honors in that race as well with a time of 7:31.3, while Simmons was second with a time of 7:36.5.

Powering the 2V8 boat was coxswain Zoe Zelkowitz, Halee Mahoney (8), Hannah LeBlanc (7), Emma Taylor (6), Mira Rosenkotz (5), Clare Zicari (4), Mahirah Mustaffa (3), Nicole Villacres (2), Mira Kelly-Fair (B).

Mount Holyoke returns to the water on Saturday when it travels to Coast Guard Academy.
