Rowing Posts Strong Effort Against Tufts, Coast Guard and Hamilton

MEDFORD, Mass. - It was a solid day of action for the Mount Holyoke College rowing team, which competed at Tufts University against strong competition. The Lyons squared off in several raced on Saturday, facing Hamilton, Coast Guard and the host Jumbos.

The Lyons opened the day in the varsity eight against Coast Guard. Under rainy and light wind conditions, the Bears edged out MHC with a time of 7:04.91. Mount Holyoke crossed the finish in a time of 7:08.24.

In the second varsity eight against the Bears, the Lyons prevailed with a time of 7:35.17 to Coast Guard's 7:50.73. Mount Holyoke's 2V8 was also in action against Tufts, but fell short as the Jumbos put up a time of 7:16.76, while the Lyons crossed in 7:45.24.

Mount Holyoke's other race on the day was in the varsity eight as the Lyons took on Hamilton. The Continentals got the victory with a time of 7:04.01, while MHC crossed the finish line in a time of 7:13.93.

MHC returns to the water on April 10 when it travels to Worcester, Mass., and Lake Quinsigamond for a day of racing against Clark, the University of Vermont and Simmons.
