Rowing Opens 2016 Slate With Solid Effort

HADLEY, Mass. -The Mount Holyoke College rowing team kicked-off its 2016 slate of action on Saturday morning, competing at the Sportsman's Marina against boats from Franklin Pierce and Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

The Lyons 'A' boat powered its way to victory in a time of 7:08. MHC was followed by Franklin Pierce, which notched a time of 7:23, while Mount Holyoke's 'B' boat finished third in a time of 7:51. Massachusetts Maritime Academy crossed the finish line in a time of 9:04.

Saturday's race marks the first of six straight races for the Lyons over the coming month. Mount Holyoke is back on the river next weekend when it travels to Medford, Mass., to battle Tufts, Hamilton and Trinity on the Malden River on Saturday.
