WORCESTER, Mass. – It was a solid start to the season for the Mount Holyoke College rowing team, which saw two boats in action at the 2015 Quinsigamond Snake Regatta, hosted on Lake Quinsigamond. The varsity eight was 10th overall in a field of 27 participating boats.
Behind a time of 16:53.856, the Lyons saw the varsity eight boat record the 10th best finish on the water for their event. They were the fifth boat to cross the line among the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) participants on the day. Conference-rival Wellesley was the V8 winner on Saturday with a time of 15:33.994.
In the novice eight event, the Lyons boat had a strong effort, but shouldered a tough penalty on the day. The penalty gave them a time of 22:03.367, which was 16th overall. NEWMAC-rival WPI won the race with a time of 17:25.113, battling past Wellesley, who put up a time of 18:00.810.
