Rowing Finishes Seventh at NEWMAC Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. - For the fifth straight year, Wellesley's Varsity Eight captured the NEWMAC Rowing Championship on Lake Quinsigamond. The Blue beat second place Smith in collecting their sixth overall crown at the 2015 conference championship on Saturday morning. 

Wellesley, who posted a time of 6:52.5, blazed past Smith, which turned in a time of 7:02.0. WPI posted a third place finish with a time of 7:07.0, while Coast Guard (7:11.8), Simmons (7:14.6), Clark (7:25.2) and Mount Holyoke (7:36.6) rounding out the field.

The Blue laid claim to the Florence Jope Smith Cup, given annually to the team with the most overall points during the four championship events  The Blue also posted key points each of the other races, winning the Novice Eight, the Second Varsity Eight and finishing second in the Third Varsity Eight.

Following the races, the 2015 all-conference honorees were revealed. Named from Mount Holyoke to the Second Team was senior Hannah Arbach and sophomore Molly Lapointe. The honored was the third straight for Arbach and the first for Lapointe.
