WORCESTER, Mass. (Oct. 12, 2013) - The Mount Holyoke crew team opened its 2013-14 season in fine fashion on Saturday, competing at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta, hosted by WPI, on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester. The Lyons had five boats in action at the event, including three that finished in the top-10 of their respective races. Among the top performances was the first varsity eight and the first novice eight, which finished seventh and fourth, respectively.
The top varsity eight boat posted a time of 16:57.509 to finish seventh overall in a field of 22 boats. MHC's second varsity eight boat also had a great outing, placing 18th overall with a time of 18:24.149.
In the novice race, MHC's first novice eight was fourth overall in a field of 20 boats with a time of 18:54.161. The second novice eight boat was 16th overall in the event, posting a time of 21:13.257.
Also having an outstanding effort was the varsity four boat, which posted a time of 20:12.469 to finish 10th overall of 17 boats in its race.
Mount Holyoke now turns its sights toward October 27 when it heads to Philadelphia, Pa., to compete in the 2013 Seven Sisters Championship Regatta, hosted by Bryn Mawr College.
