Chestnut Hill, Mass. - January 15, 2020 - The Mount Holyoke College basketball team closed out their non-conference schedule on Wednesday evening as the Lyons suffered an 81-34 setback to Pine Manor College at Pine Manor Gym.

Junior forward Annika Brooks (Portland, Maine) continued her impressive play as of late and poured in a team-best 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Brooks has now posted 11 double doubles on the year, including six in her last seven games played. Sophomore forward Mikayla McEwen (South Hadley, Mass.) also posted seven points and had four rebounds with two steals.

McEwen picked up a rebound on the defensive end of the court and then scored the Lyons' first basket of the game at the 7:19 mark of the first quarter. Brooks started to heat up in the second quarter and scored on two-consecutive baskets for the Lyons midway through the frame. From there, Brooks would hit a pair more to push her night's total to 10 at the halftime break.

McEwen pulled down an offensive board and kicked a pass to Brooks, who converted a jumper at the 9:01 mark of the third quarter, before McEwen made a jumper of her own after burying a feed from Olivia Aries (Brewster, N.Y.) with 6:37 on the clock.

Brooks would make two more before the end of the third, then scored on the Lyons' first possession of the fourth quarter, then Ireland Clare Kennedy (Oakland, Calif.) got in on the action and buried a jumper at the 7:32 mark. Wrapping up the Lyons' scoring, first-year guard Ellie Hayward (Westmoreland, N.H.) hit a three-pointer with 4:46 to play.

Mount Holyoke College was 15-of-61 (24.6%) in the setback, while the Gators were 34-of-70 (48.6%) from the floor over 40 minutes of play. The Lyons drop to 1-14 overall while Pine Manor is now 3-7.

Up next, Mount Holyoke College will open New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play and travel to Wheaton College for a 3 p.m. contest.
