Jamaica, N.Y. - January 2, 2020 - Playing for the first time in 2020, the Mount Holyoke College basketball team fell to York (N.Y.), 62-23, at the York College Gymnasium on Thursday evening.

First-year point guard Ellie Hayward (Westmoreland, N.H.) and junior forward Annika Brooks (Portland, Maine) both had eight points to lead the Lyons as Brooks led with 10 rebounds, while Hayward recorded three steals in 40 minutes of play.

In a low-scoring first quarter of play, Mikayla McEwen (South Hadley, Mass.) canned a pair of free throws and Brooks made a jumper, before the junior drained another in the second quarter but Mount Holyoke College would face a sizeable deficit at the halftime break.
