Basketball Falls on the Road to Emerson

BOSTON, Mass - The Emerson Lions Women's Basketball team defeated the Mount Holyoke Lyons 82-45 on Saturday February 6th at 1:00pm. The Lions are now 10-11 overall and 5-7 in the NEWMAC. Mount Holyoke drops to 0-20 and 0-12 in conference play.

Freshman Charlie Boyle (Scotts Valley, CA), had seventeen points for the Lions with 6 rebounds. Both Junior Elizabeth Horan (Ashland, Mass.) and Senior Kelsey Johnson (Syracuse, NY) had fourteen points for the Lions. Johnson had sixteen rebounds. Emerson held Mount Holyoke to a 32.1% (18-56) shooting percentage.

For the Lyons of Mount Holyoke College, Senior Genelle Green (Windsor, Conn.) was the leading scorer of the game with nineteen points. Green had 3 three pointers and 4 rebounds. Freshman Leah Hodges (New Haven, Conn.) was the leading rebounder for her team with 8 rebounds and eleven points.

The Lions had a shooting percentage of 40.8% making thirty-one shots out of their total seventy-six. The largest lead for the Lions during the game was 38 points coming at the 4:51 mark in the 4th quarter.

Mount Holyoke travels to Clark University on Wednesday to play the Cougars for a NEWMAC matchup at 7pm. Emerson travels to Wheaton College for a conference game at 8pm on Wednesday to play in the Play 4 Kay game.
