    Under the direction of 10th-year head coach Michelle Scecina, the Mount Holyoke basketball team posted a record of 6-19 during the 2013-14 season. The Lyons went 3-17 in NEWMAC play, anchored by junior forward Amber Legare, who was an All-Conference selection.
  • Legare Earns NEWMAC All-Conference Honors

    The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its year-end honors and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Amber Legare has been named to the All-Conference Second Team. Legare was one of just two players in the NEWMAC this season to average a double-double. As a team, the Lyons were also recognized by the conference’s coaches with this year’s Sportsmanship Award.
  • Basketball Falls at Wellesley in NEWMAC Finale

    Seniors Leslie Leong and Katie Shulenberger celebrated their final regular season home game by leading the Wellesley basketball team to a 62-44 win over Mount Holyoke on Saturday at Keohane Sports Center. The Blue finish the regular season 16-8 overall, 13-7 in the NEWMAC as they prepare for the upcoming NEWMAC tournament as the fourth seed. Mount Holyoke ends the season at 6-19, 3-17 in conference play.

    Junior Jaimie Bickelhaupt posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds to pace Springfield College to a 46-41 victory over Mount Holyoke College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Wednesday evening. The Pride move to 14-10 and 10-9 in conference play, while the Lyons drop to 6-18 and 3-16 in the NEWMAC.
  • Legare Sets Record as Basketball Defeats Emerson, 68-60

    Junior forward Amber Legare posted a single-game record 26 rebounds, while adding 20 points to help lift Mount Holyoke College past Emerson College, 68-60 in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday. With the win, the Lyons snap a four-game skid and improve to 6-17 overall and 3-15 in conference play, while Emerson slips to 8-15 and 4-14 in the NEWMAC.

The Bears improve to 17-5 overall and 12-5 in conference play while the Lyons drop to 5-17 and 2-15 in the NEWMAC.

With the win, Wheaton moves to 14-3 and 9-3 in conference play, while MHC is now 4-13 and 1-11 in the NEWMAC.

With the win, Wheaton improves to 4-0 and is now 2-0 in conference play, while the Lyons move to 3-1 and 1-1 in the NEWMAC.

    Backed by a 19-point effort from junior Kate Karraker, the Mount Holyoke College basketball team posted a 43-38 victory over WPI in the NEWMAC opener for both teams. With the win, the Lyons improve to 3-0, while the Engineers move to 1-2. For MHC, it marks the first victory over WPI since February 25, 2007, when the Lyons posted a 51-46 win in Worcester to win the NEWMAC Championship.

Her honor comes on the heels of helping the Lyons to a 2-0 mark in their opening week.
  • Basketball Wins Mariner Pepsi Classic; Beats Maine Maritime, 51-38

    Four players reached double figures for the Lyons to lift the Mount Holyoke College basketball team to a 51-38 victory over Maine Maritime in the Mariner Pepsi Challenge Championship game Saturday. The Lyons improved to 2-0, while the Mariners dropped to 1-1. Junior Amber Legare was named the tournament MVP and classmate Kate Karraker was named to the All-Tournament team for MHC.
  • Basketball Wins Season Opener; Downs Bates, 77-63

    Juniors Amber Legare and Nicole DeMarchena both posted double-doubles in leading Mount Holyoke to a 77-63 win over Bates College in the Mariner Pepsi Challenge Friday night. The Lyons (1-0) advanced to Saturday's 3 p.m. championship game opposite Maine Maritime, a 56-50 winner over Simmons College in the first game. The Bobcats will play the Sharks in the 1 p.m. consolation game.
  • Jessica Duff Named Basketball Assistant Coach

    Mount Holyoke College Director of Athletics Lori Hendricks has announced the hiring of Jessica Duff as assistant basketball coach. Additionally, she will serve as an assistant to the Athletic Director. A former standout at Wellesley College, Duff will be involved in all aspects of the Lyons basketball program alongside head coach Michelle Scecina, as well as helping with a variety of events within the athletics department.
