South Hadley, Mass. - October 29, 2019 - Senior Micaela Pierce (Newton, Mass.) of the Mount Holyoke College field hockey program was recently chosen to attend the 2020 NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program this upcoming January. The NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program will be held in conjunction with the NCAA Convention in Anaheim, Calif. from January 22-25. 

Pierce, a senior American Studies major at Mount Holyoke College, was one of only 40 Division III student-athletes accepted into the program. A two-year captain of the Mount Holyoke College field hockey program, Pierce also attended the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, hosted in Indianapolis, Ind. this past summer.

At the 2020 NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program, Pierce will participate in programming specific to student-athletes and will have the opportunity to attend the legislative voting session. Pierce will also receive DiSC training, and participate in welcome and debrief meetings. The goal of the Immersion Program is to build a pipeline of talented ethnic minority candidates, with an interest in Division III coaching and/or administration, in an effort to ultimately diversify the division.
