BABSON PARK, Mass. - Aided by a four-goal first half, the Babson College field hockey team posted a 7-1 win over Mount Holyoke College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon. The victory moves the fifth-ranked Beavers to 8-3 and remain perfect at 3-0 in conference play. The Lyons are now 5-5 with a 1-2 mark in the NEWMAC.

Babson got on the board at the 11:40 mark of the first half. Following an insert on a penalty corner by Cate Diamond, Ashley Tango launched the ball forward, putting it in past Lyons keeper Morgan Turner.

MHC notched the equalizer less than two minutes later after a shot richocheted off of Babson goalie Cassidy Riley. Lyons' rookie Kylie Brooks was there to bury the rebound, but the momentum was shortlived as Tori Roche collected a pass from Quinn Greer on the far side and banked it in.

Diamond propelled the home team to a 3-1 lead at 16:49, after a strong pass forward from Maddy Paro. The pair then reversed their efforts with less than three minutes remaining in the half as Paro connected on a feed from Diamond.

In the second half of action, Babson scored a pair of goals in less than a minute as Lauren Curley and Roche each converted for a 6-1 advantage. The Beavers added a final tally at 61:49 by Lauren Drakeley to close out the scoring in the contest.

Riley earned the victory for Babson, stopping two shots over 61:49, while Madison Adler played the final 8:11 and was not forced to make any stops. For MHC, junior Morgan Turner recorded five saves over 59:07 of action, while sophomore Maddie Miller played the final 10:53 with two stops.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Tuesday, travelling to Springfield for a 6pm contest. Babson is also in action on Tuesday, hosting Wellesley at 7pm.
