SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Junior forward Ireland Tawney redirected in a shot with no time left in the second overtime to lift Stevens Institute of Technology to a 1-0 win over Mount Holyoke College on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Ducks move to 3-1 on the season, while the Lyons slip to 1-2 overall.

The visiting Ducks were awarded a penalty corner with just seconds remaining in the second overtime. As the horn sounded, Stevens' Skylar Migliaccio (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) inserted the ball out to the top of the circle to junior defender Michaela Thompson (Manasquan, N.J./Wall). Firing a rocketed shot, the ball sailed in where it was deflected by senior midfielder Regan Littell (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and then deflected into the goal at the right post by Tawney (Hopkinton, N.H./Hopkinton) to end the contest.

Mount Holyoke had its chances earlier in the frame as first year Margaret Robb (Summit, N.J./Summit) sent a blistering shot in on Stevens goalie Emily Franco (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson), who could not control the rebound. The ball caromed out to senior captain Colby Newsham (Harvard, Mass./The Bromfield School), but her shot went just wide of the goal.

In the opening period of the game, the Lyons nearly got on the board as senior captain Mirjam Keochakian (Hamburg, Germany/Deerfield Academy) was awarded a penalty stroke. Her shot banked off the post and out to keep the scored locked at 0-0.

Robb earned the Lyons second penalty stroke of the afternoon in the second frame. Despite the ball going in, the goal was waived off due to an infraction on the approach. Stevens also nearly cashed in with nine minutes left of regulation as Migliaccio crashed the net, forcing Lyons' keeper Morgan Turner (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) to make a quick stop.

The Lyons had several solid chances in the first overtime, as did the Ducks, but neither converted.

For the contest, MHC owned a 15-9 advantage in shots and a 9-8 edge in corners. Franco posted 11 saves to pick up the victory for Stevens, while Turner shouldered the loss with four stops.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Tuesday in a 7pm contest at Westfield State. Stevens returns to the field on Wednesday, hosting Montclair State at 8pm.
