WORCESTER, Mass. – Three different players scored and sophomore Morgan Turner stopped four shots to lead Mount Holyoke College to a 3-0 victory over host WPI in the NEWMAC regular season field hockey finale on Saturday at Alumni Stadium.

The Lyons (12-5, 5-3) earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Field Hockey Championship and will host No. 5 Springfield Tuesday at a time to be determined. The Engineers (10-6, 3-5) were tied with Wellesley, who defeated Wheaton with no time left this afternoon, for the last spot in the field; however, the first tiebreaker - head-to-head matchup - was won by the Blue courtesy of their 3-1 triumph on September 16.

Junior Colby Newsham (Harvard, Mass.) set up the game-winning tally, inserting the ball on a penalty corner which was banked in by junior Mirjam Keochakian (Hamburg, Germany) for the game-winning goal at 8:29.

Following a late penalty corner, senior Kaitlin Braz (Tolland, Conn.) knocked home her fifth of the season with help from classmate Kathryn Rawson (Old Town, Maine) at 62:37. Minutes later, Braz sent the ball to senior Sophie Perekslis (Millerton, N.Y.), who smacked the ball past the keeper for the 3-0 final.

Of the Engineers five shots on-goal, two were taken by freshman Abby O'Sullivan (Walpole, Mass.). Seniors Sabrina Guzzi (Suffield, Conn.) and Abby King (Fairfield, Maine), as well as sophomore Carly Cidado (Easton, Mass.) all registered one shot apiece.

Turner's (Chester, N.J.) effort was complimented by a defensive save by Rawson. Junior Karen Mushrall (Mariaville, Maine) collected eight saves and finished with a 10-6 record on the year.
