Awards Handed Out at Annual Athletic Banquet

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (May 8, 2008) - The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration on Wednesday evening in Chapin Auditorium. Individuals from all 14 varsity teams were honored. Associate Athletic Director Lori Hendricks served as the event's emcee.
Senior Grace Bauer earned the prestigious Alumnae Association Scholar-Athlete Award. A member of the swimming and diving team at the College, Bauer was selected by the department for her outstanding achievements as both an athlete and a scholar. The award, which is sponsored by the Mount Holyoke Alumnae Association, is considered by many to be the department's most prestigious. A chemistry major, Bauer set a total of 25 swimming and diving records in her for years.
A total of 53 Lyons took home Senior Athlete Awards. They each participated in their sport for at least three years, including their senior year.
Included in that group were a pair of student-athletes who competed in cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field for all four of their years at Mount Holyoke. For their accomplishments, Meghan Lynch and Natalie Martin received Twelve Season Awards.
