Williamstown, Mass. - October 20, 2019 - The Mount Holyoke College riding team competed at the Williams College Fall Show at Bonnie Lea Farm in Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday and took home the Reserve High Point Title, finishing second overall with 38 points.

The Lyons' mark of 38 points was more than Smith College, which had 35 points on the day, Springfield College, which produced 29 points, and Worcester State (23) to round out the top five. 

Competing for the second time outdoors this season on Saturday, Mount Holyoke College's day started off with Sara Hearn (Tallahassee, Fla.) competing in the Open Fences, where she finished third overall. Next were the two sections of Intermediate Open Fences, where Indra Rapinchuk-Souccar (Cummington, Mass.) and first-year Georgia Fish (Baltimore, Md.) rode lovely courses, finishing third and fourth, respectively. Sophomore Tori Fletcher (Branford, Conn.) put forth an impressive showing as well in the second section, securing the first blue ribbon of the day for Mount Holyoke College.

The next division in the ring was Limit Over Fences, with three sections. Sophomores Kristina Lester (West Suffield, Conn.) and Kristina Honour (Lake Forest, Ill.) had a pair of strong rides, with Honour finishing first and Lester placing just outside of the ribbons. In the second section, Marina McDonald (Northampton, Mass.) and Sierra Dunn (Northampton, Mass.) had solid performances, with Dunn taking fourth, just ahead of McDonald who was fifth. The final section saw Sarah Etzel (Northampton, Mass.) enter the ring and finish fifth after riding another impressive course for the Lyons.

Moving on to the flat class portion of the day, junior captain Libby Sams (Atlanta, Ga.) had a stunning ride in the intermediate flat, securing another blue ribbon for the Lyons, before Hearn returned to the ring with an outstanding ride in the Open Flat, securing a fifth-place ribbon.

Next up was the Introductory division. In the first section, Tzujung Hung (Qingdao, China) had a solid ride but finished just outside of the ribbons. In the next section, Luhan Wang (Nanjing, China) and sophomore Xike Zhao (Shenyang, China) made their collegiate debut, with Wang taking first overall and Zhao finishing third.

Shortly after, several sections of Limit Flat followed. Etzel returned to the ring with a stunning ride to finish first in her class. In the second section, McDonald secured a sixth-place ribbon. Next, in the Pre-Novice division, Daniela Fraser (Vero Beach, Fla.) finished her first competition with a victory before Yixuan He (Nanjing, China) had a strong ride in her showring cantering debut, receiving a third-place ribbon.

After a short break for Mount Holyoke College, two sections of the Novice division followed. Sophomore Hannah Brown (Portland, Ore.) put in a stunning ride, earning another blue ribbon for the Lyons. In the final section, Aihua Boothroyd (Maynard, Mass.) had a solid ride, finishing just out of the ribbons. 

At the end of the day, Etzel would be announced as the Reserve High Point Limit rider of the day.

Up next, the Lyons will return to South Hadley, Mass. and will host the Mount Holyoke College Show on Saturday, October 26.
