Kelli Marie Wainscott is the Head Western Coach at Mount Holyoke College and the IHSA Zone One Area Ten Western Coordinator.  She has been teaching and coaching students to Regional and National titles at our college since 2010.  Kelli resides in Chesterfield, Mass., on her farm with her family.  Her full time job is with the Massachusetts State Police as a 911 Dispatcher and First Responder.  She is also an AQHA and APHA Professional Horseman and a multi carded horse show judge, traveling around New England judging on average 25 shows each year.  She manages several shows and show series in the local area, growing them from the ground up and providing a fair and enjoyable experience for any level of rider.  Competing in her first horse show at nine months old, she has been active in the industry from a very young age and has never missed a show season competing with her horses.  She has owned and shown Morgans, Arabians, Appaloosas, Paints, Quarter Horses, and several other breeds as well.  Growing up in 4-H gave her a diverse background of knowledge and experience, while also giving her the tools she needed to purchase a yearling when she was just 13 years old and start and back him herself.  They went on to win several titles and year end awards together, but most cherished of all is the partnership they formed for 27 years.

Kelli is very proud of the Mount Holyoke College Western Team.  Students range in ability level and experience, making the team very diverse and engaging.  Students work together to help each other become better horsewomen, while also learning about the aspects of managing a large group and all of the opportunities that are presented when you commit to being a part of a competitive sports team.  Many of the students that graduate and become alumni of the western team, attribute their success in adult life and their career to the many things they learned while being on the team.  The coaches and the students are very thankful for the support and the opportunities that Mount Holyoke College provides.  And of course, we owe so much to the school horses and everything they teach us on a daily basis.
