ORLANDO, Fla. - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced its 2017-18 Board of Directors and Mount Holyoke College Associate Director of Athletics Communications, Amie Canfield has been elected for a three-year term. The new board appointees were announced and approved at the CoSIDA Convention during the Business Meeting on June 13th.
"I am incredibly honored and humbled to have been elected to the CoSIDA Board of Directors. This has most certainly been one of my goals since attending my first convention in 2013 and learning about all of the extraordinary ways to be involved," said Canfield. "I am excited to represent Mount Holyoke College and the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) on this national stage. I look forward to continue to advocate and champion the efforts of athletic communication professionals across the country."
Canfield, who will serve as College Division Representative - Northeast Region - recently completed her fifth year as a member of the Lyons Athletics Department. She has been a member of CoSIDA's Academic All-America Committee since 2013 and was also a member of CoSIDA's Strategic Planning Committee during the 2015-16 academic year. Her work continues as a co-Chair for the Professional Development Task Force within the Strategic Plan.
In addition to her work on the national level, which also includes serving as a committee member for the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week Selection Committee, Canfield has also been a member of a number of committees at the conference level.
Canfield served as the Chair of the NEWMAC SID Committee (completing her term in 2017), and continues to be a member of the Athletic Administrators' Group (AAG). She also served as the Chair for the NEWMAC Strategic Communications Committee and sat on the NEWMAC Awards Committee during 2015-16.
A 2003 graduate of Vermont with a bachelor's degree in English, Canfield has served as a volunteer at numerous tournaments and championships, including three Women's Frozen Fours and the 2012 IIHF Women's Ice Hockey World Championships.
Canfield was awarded the CoSIDA President's Award in 2016, while garnering CoSIDA's Rising Star Award (College Division) in 2015.
